Ensuring the highest level of personnel safety while working on a substation requires the equipment to be visibly disconnected and grounded. With the AMR ICEMAN this can be easily achieved by simply pulling the handle. In addition, pairing a medium voltage vacuum breaker assembly with a de-energized disconnect switch means the addition of a protection relay allows the ICEMAN to protect the substation just like a standalone breaker, at a fraction of the cost. Once the substation is de-energized, maintenance personnel can operate the handle of the disconnect switch moving the connection from the source position to a grounded position. Once in the grounded position, a lock can be installed and maintenance can safely be performed on the substation (LOTO). AMR PEMCO’s design is electrically and mechanically interlocked with the vacuum contactor to all.
